let´s act as if
text on building, 2000

A sentence is installed in the windows of the upper story of a building under reconstruction. The windows are masked with black foil serving as a text stencil. The cut out letters are lit from within and can be read by everyone passing by. The text on the house uses a temporary disfunctional window row as its screen.
The building such is transformed into a carrier of information. The temporary comment "let´s act as if" on/of the building is open for different interpretations; there may be a hint to the as-if-state on Arts Schools. At night the "text on the building" talks to the passers by and attributes a voice to a supposed "neutral" silent built environment.
